Raising the gas pollution taxes may be a controversial reform, and that's what i'll be explaining today. Raising the tax would be good for 2 points, the overall well being of our nation and our pollution epidemic. If  the tax were to be raised, that would mean more money for our infrastructure, including roads bridges and others, and more money for government programs such as medicare and social security. Both of those would be extremely beneficial for our nation, and would be a good reason to raise the tax. A problem that our nation faces is pollution. Gasoline powered vehicles are an huge source of these emissions and if a gas tax were instated, emissions would go down.

On the flip side, a gas tax increase could be very detrimental to the US. First of all, it would hurt middle-class families that are already barely skating by with the money that they have. Also, a gas hike could cause our economic growth to slow or even stop because of the price raising of consumer goods. The price raise would occur because of the tax, seeing as though it would cost more to transport these goods.

Overall, their are plenty of arguments on raising gas taxes, but personally I agree with not raising it. I believe that if our economic growth slowed, it would be way more harmful than the good of raising the tax. It would be harder to transport goods across the nation, causing a price increase on almost all goods, which would cause families to struggle even more. Additionally, I feel that the price of gasoline is already a bit too high, and I don't enjoy having to pay that much money just to be able to transport myself to everywhere I need to go.
