Pollution tax

In favor:
The tax on gas should go up. according to thehill.com they say that the highway trust funds for the highways in america is not enough to keep the maintenance and expanding up to date. They are saying that raising the gas tax is the solution for that problem. By raising the federal gas tax that could jump start the way to cleaning the planet.

Argument:
If the Federal gas tax goes up it will hurt the economic growth of the economy. According atr.org they say that the tax hike will reduce the income of many Americans because they have to pay for the overly priced gas they need to drive their kids to and from school. That goes hand in hand with the tax hike, if it happens that means less bills for middle and lower class Americans have to pay their bills that goes into the governments pocket and means a reduced rate of the economic growth in the country.

My opinion:
Even though a clean earth is what most people should start worrying about I do not think that we should raise gas tax. If the government does decide to raise the tax people will have to start taking the bus or walking and that is a good thing for the environment, but not for the economy. The money they get from gas would start to go down, that would be money lost for the government, if they decided to raise the tax on gas, and that means worse roads, and more traffic jams all around the country.  we could always clean up the earth but in a different way, but if there are more traffic jams that just means more cars running for longer, and that wouldn't be the best for the environment either.
